China Automotive Electronics Show: New generation of connected vehicles, V2X technology matures

V2X chip supplier Autotalks CEO NirSasson told the reporter of China Electronics News that the "vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V)" information exchange technology and the "vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I)" technology are collectively referred to as V2X technology, that is, the "vehicle-to-external" information exchange, which is part of the automotive Internet of Things technology. Through the mutual cooperation of wireless communication networks and sensor technologies, the information inside the car, the road, the workshop, the outside of the car, and the people and vehicles can be extracted and effectively used on the information platform. On this basis, comprehensive services such as transportation, safety, management and entertainment can be provided. This is an important component and development direction of the future Internet of Vehicles.
Fellman, senior vice president of NXP's global automotive product market, said: "V2X technology is developed based on the IEEE802.11p standard, allowing cars to communicate with each other and with the surrounding intelligent transportation infrastructure. The V2X technology platform can truly "see" every corner, thereby detecting traffic jams or traffic risks before the naked eye can detect them. Therefore, drivers can receive warning information from cars even when their vision is blocked by trucks or they are close to corners. Other applications include warnings for emergency vehicles and traffic jams or traffic lights so that drivers can adjust their speed and optimize driving operations. ”
At present, international regulations and policies on V2X are gradually taking shape. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published an Advance Warning Notification Rulemaking Proposal (ANPRM) on V2X. The preparation report points out that the deployment of V2X is ready and will greatly improve road safety in the future, preventing more than 80% of traffic accidents. It is expected that Europe and the United States will open V2X corridors in 2016, and South Korea and Singapore will deploy V2X nationwide.
According to a report by market research firm IHS, it will be widely used by 2017. In 2017, the global sales volume of workshop communication system products will reach 700,000 sets, and the number will grow to 5.6 million sets in 2020, and it is estimated to exceed 55 million sets by 2025. These are the main markets for workshop communication system products.
